Congenital Heart Block in a Newborn Infant

Abstract

This case report presents a newborn infant diagnosed with congenital complete atrioventricular block following prenatal detection of bradycardia. The baby remained asymptomatic from birth, with a stable heart rate of 60 beats per minute and normal growth and development over nine months of follow-up. No associated congenital heart defect, systemic disease, or familial history was found. The study emphasizes that prognosis in congenital heart block depends on heart rate and coexisting anomalies. Asymptomatic cases may not require treatment, and this report showcases a rare example of such a conservative management approach.

Yenidoğan Bebekte Konjenital Kalp Bloku

Abstract

Bu çalışma, prenatal dönemde bradikardisi fark edilen ve doğum sonrası EKG ile konjenital komplet atriyoventriküler blok tanısı konulan bir yenidoğan vakasını sunmaktadır. Bebek doğumdan itibaren asemptomatik seyretmiş, kalp atım hızı dakikada 60 olarak sabit kalmış ve 9 ay boyunca takip edilmiş; büyüme ve gelişimi normal olarak izlenmiştir. Vakada herhangi bir konjenital kalp hastalığı, sistemik hastalık ya da ailevi geçiş bulgusuna rastlanmamıştır. Konjenital kalp bloklarında prognozun, kalp atım hızına ve eşlik eden anomalilere bağlı olduğu belirtilmiştir. Asemptomatik vakalarda tedavi gerekmeyebilir; bu çalışma da tedavisiz izlenen nadir bir vaka örneğini sunmaktadır.
