Trichomonas vaginalis can be observed at various levels of cleanliness. When the organism's general and local resistance is compromised, it can lead to inflammatory changes in the vagina. Therefore, a facultative pathogenicity is present.
In a study of 127 cases examined with contrast phase microscopy, Trichomonas vaginalis was found in 21 cases (16.5%). It was determined that this method is a reliable one for diagnosing Trichomonas vaginalis.
