Abstract
Effect of Halothane on Liver
The effect of halothane on liver, liver function test, total cholesterol and total lipid levels have studied-on 19 cases. In addition in 14 out of 19 cases liver biopsies were taken and histological studies were performed to see wheather the duration of anesthesia caused structural changes in liver.
29 rats were subjected to halothane anesthesia and were sacrifices in different stages of anesthesia and livers and kidneys were studied histologically.
This study showes that when halothane is used properly it does not have any toxic effect on liver.
