Abstract

Investigations on the Relationship between Consanguinity, Blastic Transformation and Some Erytkrocyte Antigens In this study to measure the degree of transformation of lymphocytes in mixed leucocyte cultures from those who are relatives and those of unrelated individuals and to test if there is any relationship between the erythrocyte antigens of P, Duffy, Kell/Cel• lano, MN and ss, peripheral leucocytes have been taken from 63 individuals, 45 of them are first-degree relatives. Reactions in standard cultures not containing phytohemagglutinin have been evaluated with cytologic techniques. It has been found that no stimulation in those cultures from first-degree relatives occurs and there is no relation between antigens tested so far. To explain the mechanism of lymphocyte transformation it has been postulated the existence of some specific reactive sites on lymphocytes.
