A review of 66 bleeding cases admitted to our clinic between 1964 - 1967.

Abstract

This study was conducted to investigate the causes of hematemesis and Melena, the effects of treatment methods on mortality.
routine examination methods were used in the patient material consisting of 66 patients.
Blood transfusions were performed in 29 patients and the mortality rate was found to be 24%.
Stomach cooling was performed in 6 patients and the mortality rate was found to be 33.3%.
58 patients were admitted to medical treatment, the mortality rate in these patients was found to be 10.3%. 2 Out of 8 patients (25) referred for surgical intervention died.
Peptic ulcer was detected as the cause of bleeding at a rate of 51.5%.
the overall mortality rate was 12.12% in 66 patients. All of my patients who died were over the age of 50.
As a result, the importance of blood transfusion in patients with bleeding and the emphasis on intragastric cooling and surgical intervention should be emphasized according to the characteristics of the case were revealed.

Abstract

Bu çalışma hematemez ve Melena’nın nedenlerini, tedavi yöntemlerinin ölüm oranı üzerindeki etkilerini araştırmak amacıyla yapıldı.
66 hastadan oluşan hasta materyalinde rutin muayene yöntemleri kullanıldı.
29 hastaya kan nakli yapıldı ve ölüm oranı % 24 olarak bulundu.
6 hastaya mide soğutma işlemi yapıldı ve ölüm oranı % 33.3 olarak bulundu.
58 hasta tıbbi tedaviye alındı, bu hastalardaki ölüm oranı %10,3 olarak bulundu. Cerrahi müdahale için sevk edilen 8 hastadan (25) 2’si öldü.
Kanamanın nedeni olarak % 51.5 oranında peptik ülser saptandı.
66 hastada genel ölüm oranı % 12.12 idi. Ölen hastalarımın hepsi 50 yaşın üzerindeydi.
Sonuç olarak, kanamalı hastalarda kan naklinin önemi ve intragastrik soğutma ve cerrahi girişimin vakanın özelliklerine göre vurgulanması gerektiği ortaya çıktı.
