Abstract

An early diagnosis and surgical extirpation of the tumor prior to metastatic invasion of other tissues is the essential fact and condition of cancer treatment. However, the apparent beneficial therapeutic and palliative effects of various types Of radiation therapy should also always kept in mind. The anticancer drugs which are being extensively investigated in laboratory and clinical research levels are usually being considered in cancer cases where both Surgical and radiation therapies have already failed or cancer J shown general dissemination. For this reason, the owerall results of cancer chemotherapy are not satisfactorily bright as yet. On the other hand, occasional hopeful curative and very often beneficial palliative effects of this therapy have been repeatedly reported and cannot be negletted. Furthermore, a confortable prolongation of life and the subsidence or disappearence of the patients suffering caused by large tumor infiltrations could be achieved by cancer chemotherapy and this is considered as one of the very important assets of treatment.
In this paper the recent relevant medical literature related to this subject have been reviewed and it is intended to provide an up to date and concise information on anticancer agents, especially the ones which are accepted and being videly used clinically for the treatment of cancer.

KANSER TEDAVİSİNDE KEMOTERAPÖTiK AJANLAR
