The Measurement and Evaluation of Renal Tubular Function by Para-Aminohippuric Acid and Sodium Ortho-Iodo-Hippurate (I-131)

Abstract

Sodium ortho-iodohippurate 1" and paraaminohippuric acid tests were performed in 22 patients: 5 with normal serum cholesterol, 9 with chronic glomerulonephritis and uremia, 3 with nephrotic syndrome, 2 with diabetes insipidus, and 3 with essential hypertension. Mean PAH clearance values were 558 cc/min and hipparane 1 clearance values were 576 cc/min. The ratio between clearances was found to be between 0.82 and 1.36. Comparison of the tests concluded that the hippurane 1" test is a valuable test for measuring renal tubular function.

Abstract

5i normal, 9u kronik glomerülonefrit ve üremi, 3ü nefrotik sendrom, 2 si diabetes insipitus ve 3 ü esansiyel hipertansiyon olan 22 vak'ada sodyum orto - iodohippurata 1'“ ve paraaminohippürik asid testleri yapıldı. PAH klerensi için 558 cc/dak., hipparane 1 klerensi için 576 cc/dak. ortalama değerleri bulundu. Klerensler arasındaki orantı değerinin 0,82 - 1,36 arasında olduğu tesbit edildi. Testlerin mukayesesi yapılarak, hippurane 1“ testinin böbreklerin tübüler fonksiyonunun ölçülmesinde kullanılacak kıymetli bir test olduğu kanaatine varıldı.
