Pharmacological Properties of Prostaglandins

Abstract

Prostaglandins are a new group of biogenic substances which are isolated from seminal fluid, accessory genital organs (prostate and vesicular gland), brain and lungs. Chemically they are unsaturated C20 fatty acids. Their basic pharmacological actions can be summarized being a depression on blood pressure and the stimulation of smooth muscle. In this paper the author has reviewed the literature data about pharmacological effects of these new biogenic substances and discussed their possible physiological roles in the body.

Abstract

Prostaglandinler seminal sıvı, aksesuvar genital organlar (prostat ve vesicula seminalis), beyin ve akciğerlerden izole edilmiş yeni bir gurup biyogen maddelerdir. Kimyevi yapıları bakımından 20 karbon atomlu doymamış yağ asitleridir. Temel farmakolojik tesirleri arter tazyikini düşürmeleri ve düz adaleyi kasmalarıdır. Bu toplamada müellif, prostaglandinlerin farmakolojik tesirlerine dair literatür malumatı ve bu cisimlerin vücuttaki muhtemel fizyolojik rollerini hülasa etmiştir.
