İnce Barsak Torsiyonları

Abstract

Small bowel torsion occurs when the small intestine rotates at least 90 degrees. This rotation compresses the nerves and blood vessels in the mesentery, impeding the passage of intestinal contents and causing symptoms of ileus. Sometimes, the torsion can reach up to 720 degrees, leading to severe ileus symptoms. Small bowel torsion can be partial (involving one or several bowel loops) or total (entire small intestine rotated). Partial torsion is more common and often seen in the terminal part of the small intestine.
