Chemical Agents and Streptomycin in the Treatment of Tuberculosis

Abstract

This article examines the historical, experimental, and clinical use of chemical agents and streptomycin in the treatment of tuberculosis. The discovery and application of streptomycin are compared with promin and sulfonamide derivatives. Animal studies and human observations highlight its bacteriostatic effects, toxicity profiles, and organ concentration levels. Derivatives such as dihydrostreptomycin are shown to be less toxic. The article concludes that streptomycin remains one of the most effective drugs in tuberculosis therapy.

Abstract

Bu makale, tüberküloz tedavisinde kullanılan kimyasal ilaçlar ve streptomycinin etkilerini tarihsel, deneysel ve klinik açıdan ele almaktadır. Streptomycinin keşfi, promin ve sulfonamid türevleriyle karşılaştırmalı olarak değerlendirilmiş; hayvan deneyleri ve insan gözlemleriyle bakteriyostatik etkisi, toksik reaksiyonları ve organlardaki konsantrasyon düzeyleri incelenmiştir. Dihydrostreptomycin gibi türevlerin daha az toksik olduğu gösterilmiş, streptomycinin tüberküloz tedavisinde en etkili ilaçlardan biri olduğu vurgulanmıştır.
