Abstract

Ankara Tıp Fakültesi Psikiyatri Kliniği'nden Dr. Emin Çobanoğlu tarafından kaleme alınan bu tez özeti, beyin tümörlerinin psikiyatrik belirtilerle ortaya çıkabileceğini ele almaktadır. Modern teşhis yöntemlerinin (nöro-psikocerrahisi, elektroensefalografi ve anjiyografi) gelişimiyle birlikte, saf ruhsal belirtilerle kliniğe gelen birçok hastanın aslında beyin tümörü olduğu anlaşılmıştır. Yazar, intrakraniyal hipertansiyonun klasik belirtileri görülmeyen vakaların sıklıkla şizofreni gibi psikozlar teşhisiyle gözden kaçırıldığını belirtiyor. Makalede, beyin tümörlerinin neden olduğu kişilik değişiklikleri, depresyon, afektif dengesizlikler, halüsinasyonlar ve amnezi gibi çeşitli ruhsal belirtiler ele alınmaktadır. Bu belirtilerin, tümörün konumu, boyutu ve gelişim hızına göre değiştiği vurgulanmaktadır. Çalışma, 1957-1959 yılları arasında ruhsal belirtiler gösteren 15 beyin tümörü vakasını incelemektedir.
