Abstract

This article, authored by Prof. Dr. Orhan TOYGAR and Assoc. Prof. Dr. M. Naci AYRAL from the Second Surgery Clinic of Ankara Medical Faculty, discusses two cases of regional enteritis affecting the colon. The authors note that the disease was initially named "ileitis terminalis" because it was first discovered in the terminal ileum, but "regional enteritis" is a more accurate term as the disease can appear anywhere from the jejunum to the rectum. The paper presents a detailed analysis of two cases where the disease was localized in the colon. The authors emphasize that the clinical and radiological findings of regional colitis can be mistaken for cancer, and thus, a definitive diagnosis requires a histological examination.

Abstract

Bu makale, Ankara Tıp Fakültesi II. Şirurji Kliniği'nden Prof. Dr. Orhan TOYGAR ve Doç. Dr. M. Naci AYRAL tarafından yazılmıştır. Makalede, memleketimizde giderek artan regional enteritis vakalarından bahsedilmekte ve hastalığın ilk olarak ince bağırsağın son kısmı olan ileumda keşfedildiği için "ileitis terminalis" olarak adlandırıldığı, ancak sonradan sindirim sisteminin her yerinde görülebildiği için "regional enteritis" teriminin daha doğru olduğu belirtilmektedir. Makalede, bu hastalığın kolonu etkilediği iki vaka detaylıca incelenmektedir. Özellikle hastalığın klinik ve radyolojik bulgularının kanser ile karıştırılabileceği ve kesin teşhis için histolojik muayenenin şart olduğu vurgulanmaktadır.
