Bir Hydrops Congenitus Universalis Vak'ası Dolayısıyla
Abstract
This paper discusses the clinical and immunological background of erythroblastosis fetalis, focusing on a case of hydrops congenitus universalis. The Rh factor system, discovered by Landsteiner and Wiener, is explained in relation to hemolytic disease of the newborn. The case involves a woman with 22 pregnancies, of which only the first two resulted in healthy children. The remaining pregnancies ended in neonatal deaths due to icterus gravis or intrauterine death from hydrops fetalis. The last fetus showed typical signs of hydrops, including generalized edema, massive placental enlargement, and serological evidence of Rh incompatibility. The authors emphasize that cesarean section should be avoided in such cases due to the non-viability of the fetus.
