Abstract
The stellate ganglion plays a crucial anatomical role by connecting the cervical sympathetic chain—which lacks direct communication with the spinal cord—to the thoracic ganglia. It sends branches to the arms, mediastinal organs (such as the heart, bronchi, and esophagus), and the carotid plexus. Infiltration or surgical removal of the stellate ganglion has shown therapeutic benefits in diseases affecting these regions. Additionally, to treat certain head, neck, and brain conditions, stellate ganglion block or stellectomy may be performed to interrupt the cervical chain’s connection with the spinal cord and thoracic chain. Since 1955, our clinic has performed stellectomy for juvenile and senile arteritis of the upper extremities, with encouraging long-term results.

Abstract
Ganglion stellare, medulla ile doğrudan bağlantısı olmayan boyun sempatik zincirini torakal ganglionlara bağlayan önemli bir anatomik yapıdır. Başlıca kola, mediastinal organlara (kalp, bronşlar, özofagus) ve karotis pleksusuna dallar gönderir. Bu ganglionun enfiltrasyonu veya çıkarılması, innerve ettiği organların bazı hastalıklarında önemli faydalar sağlamaktadır. Ayrıca baş, boyun ve beyin hastalıklarını tedavi etmek amacıyla boyun zincirinin medulla ve torakal zincirle bağlantısını kesmek için stellare blokajı veya stellectomie uygulanabilir. Kliniğimizde 1955 yılından beri üst ekstremitelerin jüvenil ve senil arteritleri nedeniyle stellectomie yapılmakta olup, elde edilen uzun vadeli sonuçlar cesaret vericidir.
