Clinical results from steroid therapy in infectious hepatitis. In a study of 125 patients diagnosed with infectious hepatitis, 47 received corticosteroid treatment while 78 served as controls. No relapses were observed in 44 treated cases. In mild to moderate cases, serum bilirubin levels normalized rapidly and liver function tests improved significantly. Histological improvement was noted in 8 biopsy cases, though complete recovery was not yet achieved. The control group showed slower recovery. These findings suggest corticosteroids are effective agents in treating infectious hepatitis.
