Surgical Treatments for the Ascites in Liver Cirrhosis

Abstract

In the liver cirrhosis which is a progressive disease, surgical treatment is applied whenever ascites formation cannot be controlled by medical treatment.

Surgical treatments applied for ascites can be grouped into four:
1 — Drainage of ascites,
2 — Increasing porto-caval collateral circulation,
3 — Modification of portal venous circulation,
4 — Extraction of endocrinal organs.
