Abstract
Bu çalışma, İngiliz Radyoloji Enstitüsü Başkanı Prof. G. Stead'in 1948 yılında yaptığı, radyoloji eğitiminde fiziğin önemini vurgulayan tarihi konuşmasını içermektedir. Yazar, İngiltere'de 1919'da Kembriç diploması ile başlayan sistematik tıp eğitimi sürecini anlatarak, teşhis (diyagnostik) ve tedavi (terapi) branşlarının farklı derinlikte fizik bilgisine ihtiyaç duyduğunu savunmaktadır.Makalede, İngiltere'deki eğitim sisteminin ABD ve Kanada ile olan farklılıkları ele alınmış; özellikle Amerika'da klinik tecrübeye daha fazla önem verilirken, İngiltere'de teorik fizik derslerinin ağırlığının korunduğu belirtilmiştir. Prof. Stead, radyolojinin gelecekteki başarısının, tıp doktorları (klinikçiler) ile fizikçilerin birbirlerinin dilini anlaması ve sıkı bir disiplinlerarası iş birliği içinde çalışmasıyla mümkün olacağını ifade etmektedir. Söylev, enstitü içindeki ahenk ve dostluk havasının bu genç bilim dalını daha da güçlendireceği temennisiyle sona ermektedir.
