Abstract

Bu rapor, Ekim ayında Washington'da düzenlenen ve üç gün süren 22. Senelik İlmi Toplantı'da sunulan kısa tebliğlerin bir özetidir. Toplantıda öne çıkan başlıca konular şunlardır: Kortizonun romatizmada sadece semptomatik bir analjezik olduğu, ancak gözün iltihaplı hastalıklarında topik (yerel) kullanımının çok başarılı sonuçlar verdiği belirtilmiştir. Mitral darlığı ameliyatlarında hasta seçimi için aktif kardit ve aort yetersizliği gibi engeller tartışılmıştır.Ayrıca, atom bombası yanıklarının tedavisi, kedi tırmık hastalığının teşhisinde yanılmalar ve antibiyotiklerin bilinçsizce kullanılmasının yarattığı tehlikeler üzerinde durulmuştur. Rapor, tıp dünyasındaki en yeni gelişmeleri ve tedavi yöntemlerini toplu bir şekilde sunmaktadır.

Abstract

This report summarizes the proceedings of the 22nd Annual Scientific Meeting of the Washington Medical Society. It covers a diverse range of contemporary medical topics, including the symptomatic use of Cortisone in rheumatism and its efficacy as a topical agent in inflammatory eye diseases. The meeting addressed surgical criteria for mitral stenosis, emphasizing strict contraindications such as active carditis. A significant portion was dedicated to atomic bomb injuries, focusing on treating radiation-induced burns and shock. Other discussions included the diagnosis of cat-scratch disease, new methods for teaching cardiac auscultation, and the rising global concern of antibiotic resistance due to improper usage.
