T and B lymphocytes are two different types of cells that are functionally different, circulate in the blood and lymph, and are located in the peripheral lymphoid tissues. Thymus lymphocytes have different properties than T lymphocytes, and are precursors of T cells. T lymphocytes cannot be distinguished from B lymphocytes by light or electron microscopy. However, they have different surface properties that can be demonstrated by indirect methods.
