Ağrı Mediatörleri

Year 1981, Volume: 34 Issue: 1, 159 - 166, 11.08.1981

Abstract

PAIN MEDIATORS

Year 1981, Volume: 34 Issue: 1, 159 - 166, 11.08.1981

Abstract

Pain mediators are chemical substances that play a role in the emergence of the feeling of pain in the body and its transmission to the central nervous system. It is known that efferent impulses from the center are mediated by chemical substances called neuromediators in both smooth muscles and glands innervated by the vegetative nervous system and striated muscles innervated by the voluntary nervous system. It is accepted that various neuromediators are involved in the ganglia, which are the stopping points in the periphery of both systems, and in the synapses in the central nervous system. Similarly, although it is expected that chemical substances mediate the transmission in afferent nerves going from the periphery to the center, this issue has not yet been fully elucidated. It is not yet known for certain which chemical substances reach the central nervous system by means of the senses of vision, hearing, smell, taste and contact, as well as other various stimuli coming from the environment.
