Tracheal Reconstruction With Lyodura In Dogs

Abstract

During last decade there has been extensive experimental and clinical studies on tracheal surgery. This is the result of improved diagnostic techniques and advences in surgery in this field.
Because of spesific anatomical structure and function of the trachea, implantation of foreign materials like prostheses to this region ceases to function. Infection, stenosis as a result of and rejection is usually the outcome.
In our experiments prosthesis was prepared by making a tubeform lyodura supported with dacron used in vasculare surgery and stainles steel rings specially made for this purpose to prevent its collapse. In the dogs these prostheses became successful. Lyodura was epithelised and showed biological functions of the trachea. During this epithelisation process protheses had a wide lumen and because of durability of the lyodura against infections no complication occured. Lyodura was also successful for reconstruction of the trachea. It is the first time this kind of clinical study with lyodura tracheal prostheses is done and we believe it will have wide support for its clinical use in the near future.

Köpeklerde Lyodura İle Trakea Rekonstrüksiyonu

Abstract

Son yıllarda, trakea cerrahisi üzerine deneysel ve klinik çalışmaların ortaya çıkması, tanı ve cerrahi yöntemlerin gelişmesinin kaçınılmaz bir sonucudur.
Bilindiği gibi, trakeanın kendine özgü fonksiyonel ve anatomik yapısı nedeniyle, yabancı madde implantasyonu sırasında protezin fizyolojik görevini yapması mümkün değildir. Protezler enfeksiyon, nekroz ve buna paralel olarak darlık ve yabancı madde olmaları nedeniyle vücuttan atılırlar.
Deneylerimizde, liyodura bir tüp şeklinde biçimlendirildi ve çökmesini önlemek için damar cerrahisinde kullanılan ve bu amaçla özel olarak yapılmış paslanmaz çelik halkalarla takviye edildi ve bir trakeal protez oluşturuldu. Bu protezler köpeklerde kullanılmış11 ve başarılı olmuştur. Protezde ve trakeada oluşan silindirik epitel biyolojik fonksiyonlarını yerine getirmiştir. Protez lümeni yeterince geniş olmalı ve lyodura enfekte olmamalıdır.
