I - Rose Bengal Hepatography and Its Value in the Evaluation of Liver Function

Abstract

The study investigates the diagnostic value of 131I-labeled Rose Bengal hepatography in evaluating hepatic functions and biliary tract dynamics. A total of 64 cases—including normal subjects and patients with liver and biliary diseases such as infectious hepatitis, compensated and decompensated cirrhosis, and biliary obstruction—were examined using a dual-detector radioisotope system. Clearance half-times and abdominal uptake tracings were compared with conventional tests (e.g., BSP, Takata-Ara). The results demonstrated that the 131I-Rose Bengal test is a sensitive method for assessing liver function, capable of providing reliable results even in jaundiced cases. It also enabled functional assessment of biliary flow. The technique was found to be non-toxic, easily repeatable, and clinically valuable.

I - Rose Bengal Hepatografisi ve Karaciğer Fonksiyonlarının İncelenmesindeki Değeri

Abstract

Bu çalışmada 131I ile işaretlenmiş Rose Bengal hepatografisinin karaciğer fonksiyonlarının değerlendirilmesindeki yeri incelenmiştir. Karaciğer hastalığı olmayan vakalar ile birlikte infeksiyöz hepatit, kompanse ve dekompanse siroz, safra yolu tıkanıklığı gibi farklı klinik durumlara sahip 64 hastada çift dedektörlü radyoizotop sistem ile test uygulanmıştır. Klirens yarı zamanları ve abdominal traseler BSP ve Takata-Ara gibi klasik testlerle karşılaştırılmıştır. Sonuçlar, 131I-Rose Bengal hepatografisinin hassas bir yöntem olduğunu ve sarılıklı vakalarda bile güvenilir sonuçlar verdiğini göstermiştir. Aynı zamanda safra yollarının fonksiyonel değerlendirmesini sağlamaktadır. Testin toksik etkisinin olmadığı, kolaylıkla tekrarlanabildiği ve klinik açıdan büyük değer taşıdığı vurgulanmıştır.
