Abstract

Effect of Halothane on Liver
The effect of halothane on liver, liver function test, total cholesterol and total lipid levels have studied-on 19 cases. In addition in 14 out of 19 cases liver biopsies were taken and histological studies were performed to see wheather the duration of anesthesia caused structural changes in liver.
29 rats were subjected to halothane anesthesia and were sacrifices in different stages of anesthesia and livers and kidneys were studied histologically.
This study showes that when halothane is used properly it does not have any toxic effect on liver.

Abstract

Halothane'in karaciğere etkisi, karaciğer fonksiyon testleri, toplam kolesterol ve toplam lipid seviyeleri üzerinde 19 vakada incelenmiştir. Ayrıca, 19 vakadan 14'ünde karaciğer biyopsileri alınmış ve anestezinin süresinin karaciğerde yapısal değişikliklere yol açıp açmadığını görmek için histolojik çalışmalar yapılmıştır.
29 sıçan halothane anestezisine tabi tutulmuş ve anestezinin farklı aşamalarında öldürülerek karaciğer ve böbrekleri histolojik olarak incelenmiştir.
Bu çalışma, halothane doğru bir şekilde kullanıldığında karaciğer üzerinde toksik bir etkisi olmadığını göstermektedir.
