In this study, routine activity tests, total mucoprotein, and glycidogram examinations were performed on ten normal subjects and thirty patients with rheumatic valvulopathy. Q values (alpha-2/alpha-1) were calculated from the glycidograms.
Cases with positive JONES criteria were considered to have active rheumatic carditis.
It was determined that the Q (alpha-2/alpha-1) value, not the total mucoprotein level, was important for the diagnosis of rheumatic activity.
