Abstract
Cinema has benefited from all of the art types in the past to the present and also it has a very close relationship with the art of painting, which is a visual art, in an aesthetic way. The most important factor of the benefit of cinema from the art of painting is the director’s connection to the art of painting, especially painter directors add a plastical value through using the possibilities of art in the aesthetic way. The purpose of the article is to examine the relationship between the art of cinema and the art of painting through the analysis of painter director David Lynch and his first full-length film ‘Eraserhead’In this context, among the painter directors, David Lynch and his first full-length film ‘Eraserhead’ have
been selected for a case analysis. Through the discourse analysis of written and visual sources; his approach
to painting, painters and their works that influenced him have been analyzed. David Lynch’s
creation of a new and different cinema language -featuring a visual plastic by combining his cinematic
and painting backgrounds- is explored.

Lynch’in sinema sanatına ilişkin bilgisini ressam bakışıyla birleştirerek görüntü plastiğini ön plana
çıkaran yeni ve farklı bir sinema dili oluşturduğu tespit edilmiştir.
