Psikolojik Danışma Alanında Fenomenoloji: Kapsamlı Bir Derleme

Abstract

Bu kuramsal derleme çalışması, fenomenolojinin felsefi ve kuramsal temellerini ele almayı, fenomenolojik araştırma yaklaşımının temel ilkelerini açıklamayı ve psikolojik danışma alanındaki araştırma ve uygulama yansımalarını bütüncül bir çerçeve içinde tartışmayı amaçlamaktadır. Fenomenoloji, bireyin yaşantısını, öznel anlamlandırma süreçlerini ve deneyimin bağlamsal niteliğini merkeze alan bir yaklaşım olarak, psikolojik danışmanın insanı anlama biçimiyle güçlü bir örtüşme göstermektedir. Bununla birlikte Türkiye’de psikolojik danışma alanyazınında fenomenolojinin sıklıkla yalnızca görüşmeye dayalı bir nitel desen ya da veri toplama tekniği olarak ele alındığı ve betimleyici ve yorumlayıcı fenomenoloji ayrımının yeterince gözetilmediği görülmektedir. Bu çalışma, paradigma, yaklaşım, yöntembilim, yöntem, desen ve analiz kavramları arasındaki farkları netleştirerek fenomenolojinin bütüncül yapısını ortaya koymaktadır. Ayrıca betimleyici ve yorumlayıcı fenomenolojik gelenekler karşılaştırılarak, bu yaklaşımların araştırma sürecine ve bulguların yorumlanmasına nasıl farklı biçimlerde yansıdığı açıklanmaktadır. Çalışmada fenomenolojinin psikolojik danışma uygulamalarındaki yeri, bir kuram ya da teknikten ziyade danışmanın danışanı anlama biçimini şekillendiren epistemolojik bir duruş olarak ele alınmaktadır. Sonuç olarak bu derleme, fenomenolojinin psikolojik danışma alanında araştırma ve uygulama düzeylerinde daha tutarlı, bilinçli ve felsefi temeliyle uyumlu biçimde kullanılmasına yönelik kavramsal ve yöntemsel bir rehber sunmayı hedeflemektedir.

Phenomenology in the Field of Counseling: A Comprehensive Review

Abstract

This theoretical review aims to examine the philosophical and theoretical foundations of phenomenology, clarify its core methodological principles as a qualitative research approach, and discuss its implications for research and practice in the field of counseling. Phenomenology emphasizes lived experience, subjective meaning-making, and the contextual nature of human experience, which closely aligns with the epistemological foundations of counseling practice. However, in the Turkish counseling literature, phenomenology is often reduced to an interview-based qualitative design, and critical distinctions between descriptive and interpretative phenomenological traditions are frequently overlooked. To address this issue, the present study delineates key conceptual levels, including paradigm, approach, methodology, method, design, and analysis, in order to situate phenomenology within a coherent research framework. Descriptive and interpretative phenomenological traditions are comparatively examined, highlighting how different philosophical orientations shape research questions, analytic processes, and reporting practices. In addition, the role of phenomenology in counseling is discussed not as a therapeutic technique or theory, but as an epistemological stance that guides counselors’ ways of understanding clients’ experiences. Overall, this review seeks to provide a clear, accessible, and methodologically grounded framework for researchers and practitioners, supporting the more rigorous and philosophically consistent use of phenomenology in counseling research and practice.
