Abstract

Obsession neurosis, according to the Lacanian perspective, was introduced in the first part of this study. Afterward, the treatment process of a patient who had obsession neurosis structure was discussed. In the first part of the therapy process, ‘ego discourses’ was predominant in patient’s speech. Moreover, that part of the therapy is characterized by the fact that the patient did not hear what the therapist was saying or designating. When the patient heard what the therapist said, he was closing the matter immediately and continued his own speech. During the therapy process, some transformations were observed though. First of all, this patient’s symptom-based talking was replaced by asking himself questions and being curious about getting to know himself. Secondly, the patient began to allow the therapist to intervene in his talking and start processing what the therapist was pointing out. Moreover, the patient began to be part of the therapy process and spontaneously told what came to his mind. When all of these considered, it was thought that this patient has become ‘hysterized’ during the therapy process. ‘The hysterization process in the obsession neurosis’ indicates that people with obsession neurosis begin to work on themselves in therapy processes. Furthermore, with the onset of the hysterization process, the subject positions of these people in the therapy setting, and the positions of the therapist, who is the representative of the Other in the therapy setting, transform.
