Fonksiyonel Olmayan Akıl Yürütme Görevleri (Türkçe Versiyon): Klinik Olmayan Örneklemde Psikometrik Özelliklerinin İncelenmesi

Year 2025, Volume: 12 Issue: 1, 48 - 69, 30.01.2025

Abstract

Dysfunctional Reasoning Processes Task (Turkish Version): Investigating Psychometric Properties in a Non-Clinical Sample

Year 2025, Volume: 12 Issue: 1, 48 - 69, 30.01.2025

Abstract

The Inference-Based Approach (IBA) is a relatively new, process-oriented approach that focuses on the role of doubt in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Inferential confusion, an important cognitive process in this approach, involves confusion between imagined possibilities and reality due to the use of dysfunctional reasoning methods. There is currently no measurement tool in Turkish that evaluates this variable based on task. Therefore, in the current study, it was aimed to adapt the measurement tool called Dysfunctional Reasoning Processes Task (DRPT) to the Turkish language in a non-clinical adult sample of 200 people. To evaluate the psychometric properties of the adapted tool, analyses were conducted using the Obsessive Beliefs Questionnaire, the Obsessive Compulsive Inventory, and the Inferential Confusion Questionnaire. The DRPT includes 24 scenarios related directly to OCD concerns (such as contamination, control, "just right," and unacceptable thoughts) and 6 scenarios related to non-OCD concerns (such as punctuality and similarity). Analyses were conducted on both the 24-item and the full 30-item forms of the measurement tool. The results demonstrated that the DRPT exhibited satisfactory reliability and validity, showing significant relationships with other variables, statistical differences between high and low symptom groups, and an independent contribution to symptom levels. The findings of this study support the relationship between inferential confusion and OCD, consistent with existing literature, and indicate that the DRPT is a valid and reliable measurement tool for use in the Turkish population.
