RELIGIOUS EDUCATION IN MACEDONIA (FYROM)
Abstract
Catechism
or education on religion pro et contra, this is the dilemma of our transitional
society: giving the chance to our children to learn about religious topics, God
and scripture, about religious logos, which according to sociology is the
tendency in global dimension, or to guard the secularist “spirit” of the state
and educational system. This article is a theoretical-analytical-sociological
approach about necessity of implementation of catechism in formal education
system, as a method to find solution of today’s hyper modernized “pathologic”
society who faces a number of social problems like narcomania, violence,
alcoholism, anomy, suicide etc. and who is searching for real and healthy
solutions. In this context, religion, in cooperation with other social
institutions can be spiritus movens toward a vital and functional society.
