Sectarian Conflicts in the Middle East and Their Impact to the Balkans
Abstract
The presence of sectarian conflicts in the Middle East, as in every region of the world, has demonstrated its reflection in the Balkans too. In this article, beside the Sunni-Shiite tensions, we will discuss the Sunni doctrine of “ true Islam”. Attention will be given to new religious interpretations and reflections of different sectarian approaches and developing of radical and radically changing movements especially since the 1990s. “True Islam” was presented by the principles of theradical groups’ definition of Hanbeli/Salafi, to the Balkans, a region densely dominated by Hanefism. The insistence on the classical doctrine that faith must necessarily reflect on the practical way not taking into account the devastation caused by communism, here is stated that this will bring unpredictable results in social and individual life.
