A Review of Kaza Kumanova’s Demographic and Social Structure of XIX. Century
Abstract
Kumanova, which at present is within the borders
of Macedonia, is an important city in the sense that it is a city in the
Balkans which wtill carries traces from the Ottomans. It can be seen in the
nineteenth century dividend books that the Muslim and non-Muslim
population lived together in Kumanova, a town in the province of
Köstendil which in the district of Skopje. It is possible to obtain data
regarding the population and social structure of towns, streets and villages
from the dividend books as social history source. In this article a social
analyse of the area and the period has been tried to made in the light of
dividend books number 15377 and 15463 and by usage of individual names and
nicknames.
