Dünyada Güncel Sofralık Üzüm Islah Çalışmaları

Abstract

Hemen hemen her kıtada sofralık üzüm yetiştirilmektedir ve tüketici taleplerine göre yetiştirilen sofralık üzüm çeşitleri zamanla farklılık gösterebilmektedir. Bu nedenle birçok ülkede değişen taleplere cevap verebilmek için sofralık üzüm ıslah çalışmaları yapılmaktadır. Bu ıslah çalışmaları Üniversiteler, Araştırma Enstitüleri ile son yıllarda farklı özel sektör temsilcilerinin kurdukları konsorsiyum veya şirketler şeklinde yürütülmektedir. Özellikle Sun World, IFG, SNFL, ITUM ve Grapa gibi özel firmalar bu sofralık üzüm ıslahı yapan kuruluşlar arasında en dikkat çekici olanlardır. Türkiye’de ise özellikle Tarım Bakanlığına bağlı Araştırma Enstitülerinde birçok yeni sofralık üzüm çeşidi geliştirilmiş ve tescil ettirilerek üretimde kullanılmaya başlanmıştır. Biyoteknolojideki gelişmelere paralel olarak asma bitkisinde önemli birçok ticari özelliklerle ilişkili gen bölgelerinin belirlenmesi sonucunda istenilen özelliklere sahip yeni sofralık üzüm çeşitlerinin çok daha kısa sürede elde edilmesi mümkün hale gelmiştir. Dünya pazarlarında farklı özelliklere sahip sofralık üzümlere talep olmasına karşılık özellikle çekirdeksiz, iri taneli, sert meyve etli, kendine has aroması olan ve hastalıklara tolerant/dayanıklı olan çeşitlere talep çok daha fazladır. ABD, İtalya, İspanya, Şili, Japonya, Kore, Çin ve Türkiye gibi birçok ülkede bu ıslah çalışmaları halen devam etmektedir. Ayrıca hızla değişen tüketici talepleri doğrultusunda birçok ülkede asma genetik kaynaklarının sayısı artırılmakta ve gelecekteki talepleri karşılayarak ıslah çalışmalarında kullanmak üzere bu genetik kaynaklar muhafaza edilmektedir.

Current Table Grape Breeding Studies in The World

Abstract

Table grapes are grown in almost every continent, and the cultivars of table grapes grown according to consumer demands may differ over time. For this reason, table grape breeding studies are carried out to respond to the changing demands in many countries. These breeding studies are carried out in consortiums or companies established by Universities, Research Institutes and, in recent years, different private sector representatives. Especially private companies such as Sun World, IFG, SNFL, ITUM and Grapa are the most notable among the organizations that breed table grapes. In Turkey, many new table grape cultivars have been developed, registered, and used in production, especially in the Research Institutes affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture. In parallel with the developments in biotechnology, it has become possible to obtain new table grape cultivars with the desired characteristics in a much shorter time, as a result of the identification of gene regions associated with many important commercial traits in the grapevine plant. Although there is a demand for table grapes with different characteristics in the world markets, there is a much higher demand for varieties that are seedless, have large berry, have a hard fruit flesh(crispy), have a unique aroma and are tolerant/resistant to diseases. In many countries such as the USA, Italy, Spain, Chile, Japan, Korea, China and Turkey, these breeding studies are continuing. In addition, in line with rapidly changing consumer demands, the number of grapevine genetic resources is increasing in many countries and these genetic resources are preserved to be used in breeding studies to meet future demands.
