Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesinde Kestane Ar-Ge Çalışmaları

Abstract

Karadeniz Bölgesi Türkiye’de kestane (Castanea sativa Mill.) ağaç sayısı bakımından ilk, meyve üretimi bakımından ikinci sırada yer almaktadır. Bölgede kestane konusunda ilk çalışmalar seleksiyon ve adaptasyonla başlamıştır. Çalışmalar sonucunda beş Anadolu kestanesi (‘Erfelek’, ‘Ersinop’, ‘Eryayla’, ‘Serdar’ ve ‘Ünal’) ve bir Avrupa×Japon kestanesi melezi (‘Marigoule’) tescil edilmiştir. Kestane gen kaynaklarının muhafaza edilmesi ve çeşit-anaç ıslahı konularında daha kapsamlı araştırmalar yapmak üzere 2010 yılında Ali Nihat Gökyiğit Araştırma İstasyonu kurulmuştur. İstasyonda farklı kestane türleri ve melezleri ile ilgili seleksiyon, melezleme ve adaptasyon çalışmaları yürütülmektedir. İstasyonda yürütülen çalışmalar ile bir Avrupa×Japon kestanesi (‘Bouche de Betizac’) ve 3 karmaşık melez çeşidinin (‘Akyüz’, ‘Macit 55’ ve ‘Ali Nihat’) tescil edilmesine katkıda bulunulmuştur. Halen gecci ve hastalık-zararlılara dayanıklı çeşit geliştirme, anaç ıslahı ve klonal çoğaltma konularında çalışmalar devam etmektedir.

Chestnut R&D Studies at Ondokuz Mayis University

Abstract

The Black Sea Region ranks first in terms of the number of chestnut (Castanea sativa Mill.) trees and second in terms of fruit production in Turkey. The first studies on chestnuts in the region started with selection and adaptation. As a result, five Anatolian chestnut varieties (‘Erfelek’, ‘Ersinop’, ‘Eryayla’, ‘Serdar’ and ‘Ünal’) and one European×Japanese chestnut hybrid (‘Marigoule’) were registered. Ali Nihat Gökyiğit Research Station was established in 2010 to conserve chestnut gene resources and to conduct more comprehensive research on variety and rootstock breeding. Selection, hybridization and adaptation studies on different chestnut species and hybrids are carried out at the station. The studies carried out at the station contributed to the registration of a European×Japanese chestnut (‘Bouche de Betizac’) and 3 complex hybrid varieties (‘Akyüz’, ‘Macit 55’ and ‘Ali Nihat’). Currently, work is ongoing on the development of late ripening and pest-resistant varieties, rootstock breeding and clonal propagation.
