Lahana Tohumlarında Soğuk Zararının Oluşumunda Eşik Nem Değerinin Saptanması

Abstract

Araştırmanın amacı; lahana tohumlarının kısa süreli depolanmasında oransal neme bağlı olarak tohumlarda soğuk zararı oluşumunun belirlenmesidir. Çalışma, Ankara Üniversitesi Ziraat Fakültesi Bahçe Bitkileri Bölümü Tohum Bilimi Laboratuvarında gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bitkisel materyal olarak lahana (Bayraklı 85) çeşidi kullanılmış ve farklı konsantrasyonlarda ki LiCl çözeltisinde (%20, 30, 40, 60, 70, 80 ve 90 oransal nem) tohum partilerinin nem düzeyleri dengeye getirilmiştir. Nem dengesi sağlanan tohum partileri soğuk zararının oluştuğu nem düzeyinin saptanması amacıyla 5℃ (1 gün), -20℃ (1 gün) ve -80℃ (7 gün) sıcaklıklarda kademeli olarak depolanmıştır. Depolama sonrası tohum canlılığını belirlemek amacıyla standart çimlendirme, elektriksel iletkenlik ve tetrazolium testleri uygulanmıştır. Testler sonunda lahana tohumlarında %70 oransal nem (%8,5 nem) düzeyi üzerinde düşük sıcaklıklarda depolamanın soğuk zararının oluşmasına neden olduğu saptanmıştır. Sonuç olarak uzun süreli depolamalarda tohum neminin lahana tohumları için %8,5’i ya da %70 oransal nemin üzerinde kurutma yapılmamasının gerekliliği ortaya konulmuştur.

The Determination of There Should Seed Moisture Content in Occurrence of Chilling Injury in Cabbage Seeds

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the threshold seed moisture level in occurrence of chilling injury in cabbage (Brassica oleraceae L. Cruciferae Convar. capitata (L.) Alef. var. Alba DC.). To find out the effect of relative humidity in natural drying systems seeds were equilibrated at various relative humidity between 20 and 90%. Then they were frozen at -20℃, for a day and at -80℃, for a week. Subsequently, seeds were taken out and germination, tetrazolium chloride and electrical conductivity that were conducted. Results showed that chilling injury occurred at 70% relative humidity (8.5% seed moisture), in cabbage seeds. As conclusion, seeds of mentioned specie should not be dried naturally above their relative humidity in order to keep seed quality high.
