The Effects of Different Stratification Times and GA₃ Concentrations on Germination Characteristics of Alnus orientalis

Abstract

In this study, the effects of different germination temperatures (10℃, 15℃, 20℃, 25℃ and 30℃) and gibberellic acid (GA₃) at concentrations of 0 (control), 125 and 250 mg/liter that were applied at seeds for 24 hours and the effect of different stratification times (2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 weeks at 4℃) at 25℃ germination temperature on germination characteristics were determined. Measurements were made every day and germination test was continued for 21 days. The result of all applications made in seed germination test of A.orientalis the highest germination rate (60.67%) was recorded for seeds stratificated for 8 weeks at 4℃, the shortest average germination time (11.36 days) was recorded for seeds stratificated for 10 weeks. Temperature, GA₃ and stratification applications increased the germination rate, and shortened germination period.

Farklı Katlama Süreleri ile Farklı GA₃ Konsantrasyonlarının Farklı Sıcaklıklar Etkisinde Alnus orientalis Tohumlarının Çimlenme Özelliklerine Etkisi

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, farklı çimlenme sıcaklıkları (10℃, 15℃, 20℃, 25℃ ve 30℃) etkisinde 24 saat süreyle tohumların batırılması şeklinde uygulanan 0 (kontrol), 125 ve 250 mg/litre giberellik asit (GA₃) konsantrasyonları ve 4℃’de 2, 4, 6, 8, ve 10 hafta ıslak katlama sürelerinin 25℃ çimlenme sıcaklığında A.orientalis’in çimlenme özelliklerine etkisi saptanmıştır. Ölçümler her gün yapılmış ve çimlenme testleri 21 gün sürdürülmüştür. Sonuç olarak, A.orientalis tohumlarının çimlenme testlerinde yapılan tüm uygulamalar sonucunda en yüksek çimlenme oranı %60.66 ile 8 hatta 4℃’de katlamada kalan tohumlarda, en kısa ortalama çimlenme süresi (11.36 gün) 10 hafta katlamada kalan tohumlarda elde edilmiştir. Sıcaklık, GA₃ ve katlama uygulamaları çimlenme oranlarını artırmış, çimlenme sürelerini kısaltmıştır.
