Muhafaza Edilen Ari ve Desiree Patates Çeşitlerinin Filizlenme ve Muhafaza Süreleri Üzerine Etkileri

Year 1981, Volume: 10 Issue: 2, 68 - 80, 31.12.1981

Abstract

Effects of Different CIPC [Isopropyl-N-(3-Chlorophenyl) Carbamate] Concentrations on Sprouting and Storage Periods of Ari and Desiree Potato Cultivars Held at Different Temperatures

Year 1981, Volume: 10 Issue: 2, 68 - 80, 31.12.1981

Abstract

This experiment has been conducted during 1976-1977 storage season at Postharvest Department of Atatürk Horticultural Research Institute in order to determine different concentrations of CIPC (25, 50, 100 ppm) and storage temperature (8℃, 12℃, 16°) on sprouting, specific gravity, dry matter content ant weight loss of Holland originated Ari, Desiree varieties grown under Adapazarı ecological conditions and the summary of the results is as follows:
1. When the effect of 8℃, 12℃ and 16℃ storage temperatures and 25, 50 and 100 ppm CIPC concentrations on the parameters of percent sprout and sprout per tuber investigated at the end of the 6 months of storage period, significant statistical differences were found between varieties, storage temperatures and CIPC concentrations. For both varieties the marginal concentration of CIPC which controlled the sprouting was found to be 25 ppm for the tubers which were stored at 8℃ whereas the marginal CIPC concentration was 50 ppm for the tubers which were stored 12℃ and 16℃.
2. When the effect of different storage temperatures and CIPC concentrations investigated on the specific gravity with conjunction to dry matter content of the tubers, except 8℃ in both varieties studied, marked mathematical changes was observed in specific gravity and dry matter content of the control tubers, during the storage period whereas this change was not noticeable, on the tubers which were treated with CIPC.
3. Studies related to the influence of different storage temperatures and CIPC concentrations on the weight losser of potatoes, significant statistical differences were observed between varieties, storage temperatures; and CIPC concentrations. While the relation between concentration and weights loss was reciprocal, he relation between temperature and weight loss was found to be linear. When storage losses exceed 5 percent level, the appearance and quality of potatoes were markedly decreased.
