Abstract

Tarla bitkileri ve sebze tohumları arasındaki üretim yöntemlerindeki farklılıklar kısaca açıklanmakta ve üreticilerin, kullanılan yöntemler ve ekipmanlar konusunda uzmanlaşma ihtiyacı ortaya konulmaktadır. Büyük ölçekli üretimin çoğunlukla tohum firmaları tarafından gerçekleştirildiği diğer ülkelerdeki sebze tohumu endüstrisi ele alınmaktadır. Tohum kalitesini belirleyen özellikler kısaca açıklanmakta ve kalitenin sağlanmasını garanti altına alan sistemler tartışılmaktadır. Türkiye'de sebze tohumu üretiminin organizasyonu ve sorunları incelenmektedir. Sonraki bir makalede, sebze tohumu üretiminde kalite kontrolü için gerekli önlemler ayrıntılı olarak açıklanacak ve bunların Türkiye'de uygulanmasına yönelik önerilerde bulunulacaktır.

The Concept of Quality in Seeds 1: General Aspects of Vegetable Seeds

Abstract

The differences in production methods between seeds of field crops and vegetables are briefly described and the need of specialization by pro ducers, in the methods used and in equipment is shown to be necessary. The vegetable seed industry in other countries is described where large- scale production is undertaken mainly by seed firms. The characteristics which determine seed quality are briefly described and the systems for ensuring that quality is attained is discussed. The organization and problems of vegetable seed production in Turkey are reviewed. In a subsequent paper the measures necessary for quality control in vegetable seed production will be described in some detail and suggestions made for their application in Turkey.
