Abstract

Yalova Bahçe Kültürleri Araştırma ve Eğitim Merkezinde çiftçilere yeni ve virüssüz çilek çeşitleri verebilmek gayesiyle, 1966 Kasım’ında çilek araştırma programına başlandı. Çeşit Denemesi: Dışarıdan virüssüz olarak ithal edilen 8 çeşitle 1966 Kasım’ında kuruldu. Aynı zamanda getirtilen çilekler, virüssüz stok materyal olmak üzere tel serada üretildi. 1968 yılı Haziran’ında ikinci hasat senesini tamamlayan denemeden elde edilen neticelere ve yapılan istatistiki analizlere göre 4 çeşit seçildi. Bu seçilen çeşitler: Pocahontas, Gorella, Souvenir de Charles, Machiroux ve Surprise Des Halles’tir. Seçilen bu çeşitler; tel serada üretime alınmış olup, 1968 yılı içinde izoleli tarlaya nakledilecektir. Bu izoleli tarlada yarım milyon kadar üretileceği tahmin edilen kol (stolon)’ların satışına 1969 yılı kışında başlanacaktır. Bu çeşit denemelerine, diğer virüssüz çeşitlerle ileri ki senelerde de devam edilecektir.

Strawberry Variety Trial

Abstract

A programme of selection of virus free strawberry varieties for the purpose of supplying virus free runners to growers was started in November 1966 at Yalova Horticultural Research and Training Center. Eight certified virus free commercial cultivars were imported from abroad and a variety trial was set up in autumn 1960. At the same time these varieties were propagated in screen houses so as to keep the nuclear stocks free of virus. In June 1968, the results of two harvests were obtained from the trial, and their statistical analysis showed that four varieties were outstanding; Pocahontas, Gorella, Souvenir de Charles Machiroux and Surprise des Halles. These varieties are recommended to growers: nuclear stocks from the screen houses will be plated in an isolated field in October 1968 and about half a million runners certified virus free will be available from Yalova Horticultural Research and Training Center in September 1969. New virus tested strawberry varieties are being introduced each year from abroad to Yalova and subjected to the same procedures as the first 8 varieties.
