Abstract
Kuraklık stresi diğer bitki türlerinde olduğu gibi patlıcan üretiminde de önemli verim ve kalite kayıplarına sebep olmaktadır. Tolerant çeşitlerin geliştirilmesi ve yaygınlaştırılması kalıcı bir çözüm olarak görülmektedir. Kuraklığa tolerant çeşitlerin geliştirilmesi için yabani akraba türler önemli genetik kaynaklardır. Bu çalışmada patlıcanın yabani akrabalarından kuraklığa tolerant olarak belirlenen Solanum incanum L. ile BATEM tarafından kültür formundan (Solanum melongena L.) geliştirilen agronomik özellikler bakımından üstün bir saf hattın (BATEM-TDC47) melezlenmesinden geliştirilen F₃ popülasyonuna ait 256 bitki, 3-4 yapraklı fide aşamasında kuraklık stresine tabi tutulmuştur. Bunun için 1:1 oranında torf, perlit karışımı ile doldurulmuş üç litrelik saksılarda bitkilere %75 kısıtlı sulama uygulanmıştır. Kontrol uygulamasındaki bitkilerde sulama düzenli olarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Denemenin 25. gününde bitki boyları ölçülmüş ve 0-5 skalasına göre görsel değerlendirme yapılmıştır. Test edilen bitkiler seraya aktarılmış, bitki, yaprak ve meyve özelliklerini belirlemek amacıyla morfolojik gözlemleri yapılmıştır. Skala değeri ‘1’ olan bireyler arasından seçilen 50 adet bitkinin lipid peroksidasyonu düzeyi ve prolin içeriği belirlenerek kuraklığa tolerans düzeyleri teyit edilmiştir. Bu bitkilerde kuraklığa tolerant saf hat oluşturmak üzere kendileme yapılarak kademe ilerletilmesi sağlanmıştır.

Abstract
Drought stress causes significant yield and quality losses in eggplant production, as in other plant species, and the development and dissemination of tolerant varieties may be a permanent solution. Wild related species are important genetic resources for the development of drought tolerant varieties. In this study, 256 plants belonging to the F₃ population developed by crossing Solanum incanum L., which is known as drought tolerant, one of the wild relatives of eggplant, and a pure line (BATEM-TDC47) developed by BATEM from its culture form (Solanum melongena L.) in terms of agronomic characteristics, seedlings with 3-4 leaves were subjected to drought stress test. For this, 75% limited irrigation was applied to the plants in three-liter pots filled with a 1:1 mixture of peat and perlite. Irrigation was carried out regularly in the plants in the control application. Plant heights were measured on the 25th day of the experiment and visual evaluation was made according to the 0-5 scale. The tested plants were transferred to the greenhouse and morphological observations were made to determine plant, leaf and fruit characteristics. MDA (malondialdehyde) and proline analysis of 50 plants selected from individuals with a scale value of ‘1’ were performed to confirm their drought tolerance levels. In these plants, it was ensured to progress step by step by selfing to form a drought tolerant pure line.
