CHRONIC BLADDER PAIN MANAGEMENT AND QUALITY OF LIFE

Abstract

Among urinary system diseases, chronic bladder pain has negative effects on quality of life; the duration and severity of symptoms, individuals' withdrawal from social life, and compliance with treatment require care management. Although its etiology is not fully understood, it includes urological pain conditions such as interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome and chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome. The diagnosis and treatment process varies depending on the individual. Today, various pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods are available as treatment options. Determining the effects of symptoms and treatment applications on the individual's quality of life plays an important role in care management. Applications aimed at improving the individual's quality of life should be planned. In this review, the definition, pathophysiology, diagnostic methods, and effects on quality of life of chronic bladder pain are summarized in accordance with current guidelines, publications, and evidence-based recommendations.

Kronik Mesane Ağrısı Yönetimi ve Yaşam Kalitesi

Abstract

Üriner sistem hastalıkları arasında yaşam kalitesi açısından olumsuz etkileri olan kronik mesane ağrısı; semptomların süresi, şiddeti, bireylerin sosyal yaşantıdan uzaklaşması, tedavi sürecine uyum sağlama açısından bakım yönetimi gerektirmektedir. Etiyolojisi tam olarak bilinmemekle beraber, interstisyel sistit/mesane ağrısı sendromu ve kronik prostatit/kronik pelvik ağrı sendromu gibi ürolojik ağrı durumlarını da içinde barındırmaktadır. Bireye özgü olarak tanı ve tedavi süreci değişkenlik göstermektedir. Günümüzde çeşitli farmakolojik ve nonfarmakolojik yöntemler tedavi seçenekleri arasındadır. Semptomlar ve tedavi uygulamalarının bireyin yaşam kalitesine etkilerini belirlemek bakımın yönetiminde önemli bir yere sahiptir. Bireye özgü olarak yaşam kalitesini arttırmaya yönelik uygulamalar planlanmalıdır. Bu derlemede, güncel kılavuzlar, yayınlar ve kanıta dayalı öneriler doğrultusunda kronik mesane ağrısının tanımlanması, fizyopatolojisi, tanı yöntemleri ve yaşam kalitesine etkileri özetlenmiştir.
