Turbo Equalization for DPSK and MSK Communication Systems

Abstract

In digital communication systems, joint equalization and decoding at the receiver is generally called turbo equalization. Soft information about each bit is exchanged between an equalizer and a decoder, by means of this, bit-error-rate (BER) performance is improved in turbo equalization. In this study, BER performances of the turbo equalizers, one of which uses differential phase shift keying (DPSK) demodulation and the other uses minimum shift keying (MSK) demodulation, are compared. The reason for prefering DPSK and MSK is to avoid the phase ambiguity
