A statistically analyzing for manganese deposits and DLA model
Abstract
On the surface of the magnesite ores, there are black deposits being the result of
various chemical and geological events. The formation mechanism and the origin of
the deposits are researched in this study. In this case, manganese deposits are formed
by using Monte Carlo simulation according to the diffusion limited aggregation (DLA).
The critical exponents for the manganese deposits and the simulated images
representing them are statistically calculated and compared by using scaling method.
In this simulation, the sticking probability parameter t=0.8 and t=0.14, the values
obtained from the images transferring to computer, for the square lattice size L=88 and
L=67, for the particle number N=625 and N=1155 are assumed. The fractal dimension
and the critical exponent values for manganese deposits and the simulated images
representing them are computed. The fractal dimension is calculated as 1.39 and 1.65
for the manganese deposits and 1.57 and 1.59 for their simulated images. The critical
exponent α and β is computed as 2.85-2.32 and 0.36-0.32 respectively for the
manganese deposits. The critical exponent α and β is computed as 2.64-2.39 and 0.35
the simulated image representing them. These results confirm that the structural
character of the manganese deposits form the diffusion limited aggregation process and
can be help to compare the natural and their simulated aggregations.
