Abstract

Hititlerin Anadolu’da kurmuş oldukları merkezi otoriteye paralel olarak, devletin kendi ihtiyaçlarını kendi karşılaması gereği ortaya çıkmış ve bu doğrultuda ganimet, vergi, ticaret yoluyla elde edilmiş hammaddelerin, kendi zanaatkârları tarafından işlenmesi sağlanmıştır. Böylece zanaat ürünlerinde bir nevi dışarıya bağımlılık azalmıştır. Bu nedenle üretici bir kimliğe sahip olan ve kentsel nüfusun öğeleri arasında yer alan zanaatkârlar, Hitit ekonomisi için oldukça önemli bir yere sahip olup, ayrıca sosyal, idari ve kültürel açıdan da Hitit kent yaşamında ciddi roller üstlenmişlerdir

The Social and Economic Roles of Craftmen in Hittite City Life

Abstract

Parallel to the central authority the Hittites found in the Anatolia, the necessity for the state to satisfy its needs arose and accordingly it was ensured that the spoils of war, taxes and the raw materials gained by the way of trade be processed by their own craftsmen. By this way, the foreign-dependence decreased in some way. Therefore craftsmen, who had a productive identity and who had a place in the elements of city
population, had a really important place for Hittite economy. Moreover, craftsmen
played serious roles in terms of social, administrative and cultural aspects in Hittite
city life.
