Throughout history, Turkish borrowed from other languages for religious, political,commercial and geogrophical reasons. Either borrowed from Western languages, orfrom Eastern languages, the words are not used as they are in their original form. Turkishadopted them as convenient as possible to its own sound structure. One of thosewords, which were adopted conveniently to the Turkish sound system, is the verb ‘ısmarlamak’(to order). This paper is intended to show the process of verb’s being a Turkishverb and the stages it passed as regads to historical periods of Turkish language.
