In the article, the common verbs; kes-(cut), yar-(hack), biç-(mow), çap-(cut up),
çal-(steal / strike) etc. used commonly in Turkish of Turkmen and Turkey, and verbs
which state the motion of cut are studied and the meaning differences in writing tongues
of these verbs are examined. Furthermore, being cited etymology of edge-tools;
bıçak (knife), pıçkı (saw), orak (reaping hook), gezlik (pacetknife) etc, it is urged that
these verbs are derived fron verbs related to cut.
