Determination of Extracellular Polymeric Matter Concentration in Different Types of Treatment Sludges

Abstract

In the study, extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) concentrations (protein, humic acid, polysaccharide, carbohydrate), one of the important parameters affecting flocking in the yeast production industry, potato chip processing industry and domestic wastewater treatment plant sludge were investigated. In addition, to determine the characterization of sewage sludge, the Capillary Suction Time (CST), Specific Filter Resistance (SRF), viscosity parameters were analyzed. While the highest amounts of humic acid, protein and carbohydrate were detected in domestic wastewater sludge, high levels of humic acid and polysaccharide (453 mg / L) were observed in potato chips processing sludge in terms of food sector.

Farklı Çamur Türlerinde Hücre Dışı Polimerik Madde Konsantrasyonu Belirlenmesi

Abstract

Çalışmada, maya üretim endüstrisi, patates cipsi işleme endüstrisi ve evsel atıksu arıtma tesisi arıtma çamurlarında floklaşmayı etkileyen önemli göstergelerden biri olan hücre dışı polimerik madde (EPS) konsantrasyonları (protein, hümikasit, polisakkarait, karbonhidrat) incelenmiştir. Ayrıca, arıtma çamurlarının karakterizasyonunun ortaya konulabilmesi için Kapiler Emme Süresi (KES), Özgül Filtre Direnci (ÖFD), viskozite parametreleri analiz edilmiştir. En yüksek hümikasit, protein ve karbonhidrat miktarı evsel atıksu arıtma çamurlarında tespit edilirken, gıda sektörü açısından patates cipsi işleme çamurlarında yüksek hümikasit ve polisakkarit (453 mg/L) bulunduğu gözlenmiştir.
