Sinema ve Tiyatro Sanatlarının Kesişiminde Teatrallik ve Temsil Olgusu: Mecralar Arası Kuramsal Bir Değerlendirme

Abstract

Bu çalışma, sinema ve tiyatro sanatlarının kesişiminde teatrallik ve temsil olgularını, nitel araştırma yöntemleri kapsamında tarihsel, felsefi ve kuramsal bir çerçevede analiz etmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Çalışmanın kapsamı, Antik Yunan’daki temsil sorunu ve teatrallik tartışmalarından başlayarak, modern avangart sahne estetiğine uzanan ve temsilin doğasına ilişkin süregelen kuramsal tartışmaları içermektedir. Araştırmada, teatrallik ve temsil olgularını incelemek üzere nitel bir yöntem benimsenmiş olup, disiplinler arası bir çerçevede, tarihsel analiz ve kuramsal çözümleme teknikleri kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın bulguları, teatralliğin salt bir biçim sorunu değil, hakikat ile temsil arasındaki ontolojik ve epistemolojik gerilimin merkezi bir göstergesi olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. Sinemanın, tiyatrodan devraldığı temsil kodlarını teknolojik olanaklarla dönüştürerek, teatral olanı kimi zaman görünmez kıldığı, kimi zaman ise onu belirginleştirerek eleştirel bir mesafe yarattığı tespit edilmiştir. Çalışmanın alana olan özgün katkısı, Brecht’in epik tiyatro araçlarının medyalar arası dolaşımı sonucu ortaya çıkan ve “mecralar arası diyalektik form” olarak kavramsallaştırılan yeni bir estetik yaklaşım biçimi önermesidir. Böylece tiyatro ile sinema arasındaki disiplinler arası bu etkileşim, saf bir temsil ya da gerçeklik illüzyonundan öte, izleyici nezdinde eleştirel düşünme ve algısal farkındalık üreten üçüncü bir uzam olarak değerlendirilmektedir. Özetle bu kesişim alanı için teatrallik ve temsil olguları üzerinden izleyicinin dünyayı algılama ve yeniden kurma biçimlerini şekillendiren güçlü bir düşünsel uzam olduğu söylenebilir.

The Phenomenon of Theatricality and Representation at the Intersection of Cinema and Theatre: An Intermedial Theoretical Assessment

Abstract

This study analyzes theatricality and representation at the intersection of cinema and theatre within a historical, philosophical, and theoretical framework, using qualitative methods. It encompasses key theoretical debates on the nature of representation, tracing a trajectory from ancient Greek mimesis to modern avant-garde stage aesthetics. An interpretive qualitative approach was adopted, utilizing historical and theoretical analysis within an interdisciplinary framework. The findings reveal theatricality as not merely a formal concern but a central indicator of the ontological and epistemological tension between truth and representation. The analysis demonstrates that cinema, by transforming representational codes inherited from theatre through its technological capacities, often absorbs the theatrical, rendering it invisible; at other times, it highlights theatrical elements to establish a critical distance. The study’s original contribution is the proposition of a new aesthetic concept: the “intermedial dialectical form,” which emerges from the intermedial circulation and adaptation of Brechtian epic theatre devices. Consequently, this interdisciplinary interplay is framed not as a quest for pure representation but as a third space that generates critical thinking and perceptual awareness in the audience, shaping how they perceive and reconstruct the world.
