Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

GENERAL

The publication process of the Bozok Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences is based on the production, development, and sharing of knowledge in an impartial manner through scientific methods; by adhering to academic principles, it undertakes to prevent malpractice in publishing in accordance with established academic and ethical standards.

Peer-reviewed articles are studies that ensure the application of the scientific method and impartiality. In the realization of scientific production, it is mandatory that all components of the publication process (publisher, editors, authors, reviewers, and readers) comply with ethical principles. In this respect, the publication ethics and open access policy of the Bozok Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences require all components of the publication process to comply with ethical principles in accordance with the guidelines and policies published in open access by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

The submission of a manuscript to the Bozok Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences by the author(s) via DergiPark for the purpose of publication initiates the application process.

The Bozok Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences has the right to make corrections to submitted manuscripts and to decide whether or not to publish them.


OPEN ACCESS POLICY

The Bozok Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences is an open access publication. All content published in the journal is made available under the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial (CC BY-NC) 4.0 International License. This license allows the use, sharing, and adaptation of the content for non-commercial purposes, thereby supporting the dissemination of the studies published in the journal to wider audiences and their effective use.

All content published in the journal can be accessed free of charge online via the Bozok Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences website.

In cases where texts, figures, tables, or other materials belonging to previously published studies are used in printed or electronic environments, obtaining the necessary permissions from the relevant copyright holders is the responsibility of the authors. Any legal, financial, and penal liabilities that may arise from this process belong to the authors.


RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE EDITORIAL BOARD

• The Editorial Board and the Editors/Assistant Editors of the Bozok Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences are responsible for every article submitted to the journal and for all processes even after its publication.
• The Editorial Board ensures the determination and implementation of journal policies such as publication, blind peer review, evaluation processes, and ethical principles.
• The inclusion of a manuscript in the peer review process by the Editorial Board does not constitute a commitment to publication. Even if the peer review process yields positive results, the decision of the Editorial Board and the Editors/Assistant Editors is required for publication.
• The Editorial Board encourages academic integrity. The Editorial Board ensures the originality of written works by checking them before publication through the iThenticate plagiarism detection program.
• The Editorial Board always investigates allegations of plagiarism and misconduct regarding published articles. For example, if an author commits plagiarism from other works in an article or uses third-party copyrighted material without permission or with incomplete notification in cases where permission is required, the Editorial Board reserves the right to take various actions, including retracting the article and notifying the head of the department, the dean of the institution where the author works, and/or relevant academic institutions.


RESPONSIBILITIES OF EDITORS / ASSISTANT EDITORS / ISSUE EDITORS

• Editors/Assistant Editors/Issue Editors of the Bozok Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences are responsible for taking precautions regarding intellectual property rights, unethical scientific conduct, and plagiarism during the article and journal publication process.
• Editors/Assistant Editors/Issue Editors consider the originality of the articles, their contribution to the field, the validity and reliability of the research method, the clarity of expression, and the aims and scope of the journal when making positive or negative decisions regarding the articles.
• Editors/Assistant Editors/Issue Editors implement blind peer review and evaluation process policies, keep the identity information of reviewers and authors confidential from each other during the evaluation process, and ensure that each article is evaluated impartially and within the required time. They ensure the correction of errors, inconsistencies, or misleading information in the articles.
• Editors/Assistant Editors/Issue Editors ensure the protection of personal data within the scope of the publication principles and ethical rules of the journal.
• Editors/Assistant Editors/Issue Editors pay attention to the protection of human and animal rights in the articles, attach importance to documenting the explicit consent of participants involved in the study, and reject articles in experimental research or studies containing surveys if there is no ethics committee approval.


RESPONSIBILITIES OF REVIEWERS

• Reviewer opinions are prioritized in the decision made by the Editorial Board regarding whether the submitted article will be published.
• Reviewers must evaluate the study fairly and impartially by adhering to the double-blind peer review procedure.
• Reviewers must comply with the principle of confidentiality and are obliged not to use information obtained from the review process for personal benefit; they must not share their reports or information about the manuscript with others.
• Reviewer evaluations should be objective and constructive. The academic adequacy of the manuscript should be the basis. Criticism directed at the personalities of the authors is not considered appropriate. Reviewers must present explanations and arguments supporting their evaluations in the reviewer evaluation reports provided by the journal editorial office. Editors/Assistant Editors do not consider biased, personalized evaluations and unreasoned approvals or rejections and assign new reviewers for such manuscripts.
• Reviewers should not accept to review manuscripts that may result in personal or institutional conflicts of interest.
• If they detect it, reviewers must inform the journal editorial office of any actual or potential case of plagiarism, multiple publication, or simultaneous submission.
• Reviewers must conduct the evaluation with impartiality and confidentiality. Accordingly, they must destroy the manuscripts they have reviewed after the evaluation process. Nationality, gender, religious belief, political views, or commercial concerns should not affect the academic impartiality of the evaluation.
• Reviewers must complete the evaluation of the manuscript they have accepted within the specified time. In order to improve the academic quality of the manuscript, reviewers’ correction suggestions are conveyed to the authors, and if requested by the reviewers, the corrections made by the author are sent to the reviewer.


RESPONSIBILITIES OF AUTHORS

• Texts/studies submitted to the Bozok Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences must not contain plagiarism and must be original. Responsibility in this regard belongs entirely to the authors.
• Any form of plagiarism, including improper transfers from the author’s own publications, is a very serious ethical problem. The evaluation process of articles found to contain plagiarism is terminated. If plagiarism is detected after publication, Editors and Assistant Editors take the necessary measures.
• The author has the right to withdraw the manuscript until a publication decision is made, provided that the journal editorial board is informed.
• Authors must not use discriminatory language based on identities such as gender, race, language, belief, culture, class, age, opinion, social group, and sexual orientation.
• Studies/articles must not violate the privacy and intellectual property rights of a third party.
• Authors are obliged to indicate all individuals who contributed to their work. Individuals who made significant contributions should be indicated as co-authors. A study cannot be published without the consent of all its authors.
• Individuals who did not contribute to the article should not be listed as authors. Changing the author order, removing an author, or adding an author should not be proposed for an article submitted for publication.
• Authors must indicate if an earlier version of the study/text has been published elsewhere. Even if the study has not been published but is derived from a thesis or an unpublished scientific meeting presentation, this must be stated as a footnote on the first page.
• Authors are responsible for acting in accordance with the principles of the current copyright law.
• If information or data related to the article is requested from the authors during the evaluation process, they must provide the requested information to the journal editorial office.
• Authors are responsible for fulfilling the correction suggestions of reviewers and Editors/Assistant Editors. If the authors do not agree with the suggestions of reviewers or Editors/Assistant Editors, they have the right to notify the journal editorial office with justification.
• Authors must submit to the journal editorial office the actions they have taken regarding the reviewer evaluation suggestions by processing them in the report sent by the journal editorial office.
• All authors must disclose in research articles any financial or other conflicts of interest that may influence the results or interpretation of the article. All financial support sources received for the study must be clearly stated.
• If an author discovers a significant error or mistake in a published article, they must notify the journal editorial office without delay. In such a case, the author is responsible for cooperating with the journal editorial office in retracting the article or publishing a correction.
• For conducted research and for clinical and experimental studies on humans and animals requiring an ethics committee decision, separate ethics committee approvals must be obtained, and these approvals must be stated and documented in the article.


REPORTING SITUATIONS THAT DO NOT COMPLY WITH ETHICAL PRINCIPLES TO THE EDITOR

If any behavior that does not comply with the ethical principles regarding editors, reviewers, or authors in the Bozok Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences, or any situation contrary to ethical principles related to a manuscript during the evaluation process, in early view, or after publication is encountered, please report it via e-mail to iibf@bozok.edu.tr.

If situations such as altering the information used in articles by making additions or deletions, distorting them, or using fabricated data are detected, this situation will be officially reported to the institution where the author of the article works. In this case, the article/articles will be rejected.
