THE MEDIA AS THE FACTOR OF TENDING TO SPORT IN CHILDREN: A STUDY AFTER A TV COMPETITION PROGRAMME NAMED AS “ICE DANCING”

Abstract

This study was examined with the idea of a tv competition programme named as “IceDancing” that has sports and magazine aspects has an effect on children’s tending to skating. Themain purpose of the study is to determine the causes of children’s tending to skating and researchwhether that tv programme has an effect on children’s tending to skating. The sample of the studyconsists of 297 parents of children between the age of 6-12 211 mothers, 86 fathers who skate at“Belpa Skating Palace” and “Optimum Skating Rink” in Ankara, “Olympic Skating Palace” in Kocaeli,“Galleria Skating Rink” in Istanbul. The causes of children’s tending to skating asked to parents.Answers were cotegorized into two main groups as the causes that are derived from parents and thecauses derived from children. The other factorsDescriptives and frequencies of the data were shown on tables. It was discovered that % 48 of tendingto skating was derived from children and % 52 of tending to skating was derived from parents. The firstsub-factor of tending to skating derived from childrens was likes moving, playing and fun as %38. Thesecond factor of tending to skating derived from childrens was the effect of tv programme named as“Ice Dancing” %27. It shows that every 1 of 4 child was affected from the tv programme and it supportsour hypothesis
