Activities of Daily Living Assessments, Interventions, and Adaptive Products in Dressing

Abstract

The activity of dressing is a fundamental element of our daily lives and has a major impact on an individual's independence, self-confidence and overall quality of life. This effect becomes even more pronounced for individuals with disabilities, because the activity of dressing affects not only appearance, but also psychological and physical health. Evaluation is as important as intervention in activities of daily living (ADL). Dressing headings vary across different ADL scales. Adaptive products are products specially designed to help disabled individuals perform daily living activities more independently. Clothing products with specially designed opening and closing mechanisms facilitate the dressing activity, while interventions generally include therapeutic methods applied by expert healthcare professionals. The purpose of this review is to provide information about evaluation, one-handed dressing intervention and adaptive products in the field of dressing, which is one of the basic daily life activities.

Giyinme Alanında Günlük Yaşam Aktiviteleri Değerlendirmeleri, Müdahaleleri ve Adaptif Ürünleri

Abstract

Giyinme aktivitesi, günlük yaşamımızın temel unsurlarından biridir ve bireyin bağımsızlığı, özgüveni ve genel yaşam kalitesi üzerinde büyük bir etkiye sahiptir. Bu etki, engelli bireyler için daha da belirgin hale gelir, çünkü giyinme aktivitesi sadece dış görünüşü değil, aynı zamanda psikolojik ve fiziksel sağlığı da etkiler. Günlük yaşam aktivitelerinde (GYA) müdahale kadar, değerlendirme de önem taşımaktadır. Farklı GYA ölçeklerinde giyinme başlıkları çeşitlilik göstermektedir. Adaptif ürünler, engelli bireylerin günlük yaşam aktivitelerini daha bağımsız bir şekilde yerine getirmelerine yardımcı olmak için özel olarak tasarlanmış ürünlerdir. Özel tasarlanmış açma ve kapatma mekanizmalarına sahip giyim ürünleri, giyinme aktivitesini kolaylaştırırken, müdahaleler ise genellikle uzman sağlık profesyonelleri tarafından uygulanan terapötik yöntemleri içerir. Bu derlemenin amacı, temel günlük yaşam aktivitelerinden biri olan giyinme alanında değerlendirme, tek elle giyinme müdahalesi ve giyinme alanındaki adaptif ürünler hakkında bilgilendirmede bulunmaktır.
